Brodie and I decided to take a road trip to Crater Lake. Neither one of us had been there before so it was a great experience for both of us. Crater Lake, with its incredibly blue water, is the deepest lake in the United States and one of the deepest in the world at 1,932 feet. Crater Lake was formed thousands of years ago when the volcanic Mount Mazama imploded creating the crater that took over 300 years to fill. There are no streams flowing into or out of Crater Lake.

The Watchman Panorama: A description of what you see as you peer over the sapphire blue water. The view is literally breath taking.
Look up to the Watchman's Tower from the beginning of the trail. 
Because the air was so thin at such a high elevation, somebody had a hard time with parts of the hike. But we both got to the top and the view was amazing!
All of the really tall trees are Douglas Fir. The comprise 75% of the conifer forest. 
This little guy is a White Bark Pine and the only grow in the higher elevations, typically above 5,000 feet. 
The sapphire blue and turquoise green are only two of the hundreds of colors that make up the beautiful landscapes of Crater Lake.
